School Based Staff Only

Prior to requesting a copy of the McAfee anti-virus protection software, school based staff must have an active dadeschools.net account. Accounts are initialized on the District e-mail web site at http://districtemail.dadeschools.net. The structure of all new e-mail accounts is ######@dadeschools.net where ###### is the individual’s employee number. At the time of the initial logon to the District E-mail system, owners of the new e-mail accounts will be allowed to change from the employee number structure to a more meaningful name, if so desired. All accounts have been established with an initial password that is the employee’s birth month and year (mmyyyy). It is strongly recommended that owners change their e-mail password immediately.

All District Staff

One copy per household will be provided; however, you may install it on multiple machines within that household. If you currently have virus protection software installed on your personal computer, you may elect to continue to use that. However, if you do elect to use the District provided free McAfee virus protection, you must uninstall all other virus protection you may have. As with the process for your work related machine, it is important that all Microsoft Critical Updates be scheduled on your home computer in addition to whatever virus protection you may elect to use.

Once the requestor has been verified, the following process will occur for each request:

• To accurately track the number of licenses issued for payment to McAfee, all requests will be programmatically saved by employee number and location.

• Each Friday, all requests for a copy of the virus protection CD will be processed for that week.

• The requests for the virus protection CD for the given week will be bundled by location and addressed to the site administrator and mailed to the employee’s location beginning the next work week. Delivery of the CD’s will be contingent upon the route delivery scheduled established by the District’s Stores and Distribution department.

• If you wish to pick up all CD’s for your location, you may do so by calling Support Services at 305-995-3705 and select option 5 for Production Control. Individual requests will not be available for pick-up.

• Once in the school, the person responsible for delivery should reference the enclosed master request list for distributing the CD’s for their location.

• When the CD is received by the requestor, the user should follow the step-by-step instructions found on the CD.

• If there are questions related to the McAfee product itself, they should be directed to the company technical support.
