MIAMI-
Some 400 senior high students from Miami-Dade public schools
will meet on Monday, Oct. 4, from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
for a Student Summit on Nonviolence, at the Wyndham Hotel
Miami, 1600 Biscayne Blvd.
The purpose of the summit is to give students
a forum to discuss ideas for making schools safer, friendlier,
and less threatening, and to empower them to help prevent
violence in schools. Strategies will be developed by school
teams, then shared with and implemented by each school's
student body.
The summit is sponsored by State Rep. James
Bush, III and School Board Member Robert B. Ingram in
collaboration with the Wyndham Hotel Miami, Miami-Dade
County Public Schools, the Miami Chapter of the National
Alliance of Black School Educators, and the Florida Martin
Luther King Institute for Nonviolence.
