- Miami-Dade County School Board Member Robert B. Ingram
hosted a "Read-to-Lead" awards ceremony at Opa-Locka
Elementary School to commemorate the many accomplishments
of students in District 1, which he represents.
Improving reading ability must head our
efforts to improve student performance," said Dr.
Ingram, who launched a "Read-To-Lead" initiative
in District 1.
Reading expands one's ability to write,
to compute, to think, and to articulate one's thoughts,"
he noted.
Highlights of the evening included award
presentations by Dr. Ingram and a workshop for parents
on issues such as Home-To-Work, preparation for the Florida
Comprehensive Assessment Test, college readiness, health
care, and the governor's voucher-A+ plans.
