Dr.
Robert B. Ingram, Miami-Dade County School Board Member,
served as Presiding Officer at the 17th National Conference
on Preventing Crime in the Black Community held May 22-25
in Atlanta, Georgia. The conference co-sponsored by the
Attorney General's of the states of Florida and Georgia,
is held to address issues relating to the disproportionate
number of African-Americans who are under the supervision
of the criminal justice system. Speaking on the subject
of "Things That Make School Work", Dr. Ingram
showcased the Miami-Dade County Public Schools' 5000 Role
Models of Excellence Program for at-risk boys that received
the "Teaching Example for the Nation: America's Promise"
award.
