MIAMI- Over 100 of the
district's schools have been named for individuals, and
Dr. Robert B. Ingram wants to see that their contributions
are remembered. As proposed by Board Member Ingram, biographical
information on a school's namesake will be prominently
displayed at the school on a plaque or similar device.
Dr. Ingram proposed that a writing contest could recognize
and honor individuals for whom a school is named. Another
recommendation was that "each school named for an
individual produce a videotape or other multimedia presentation
in honor of the person."
