The
Miami-Dade County School Board held its installation ceremony
on Tuesday, November 21st, 2000. Re-elected as district
1 school board member, Dr. Robert B. Ingram, was sworn
in by Ms. Diamond Excel, a fifth grader at Myrtle Grove
Elementary School. Diamond who was born without upper
extremities, declared: "Dr. Ingram, when I get my
arms, I would like to give you a big hug!" Through
the efforts of Dr. Ingram, the Opa-Locka Rotary Club,
and Rotary International, and support from the community,
the Diamond Excel foundation has been able to secure $60,000
to furnish the prosthetic limb for the student.
Accompanying Dr. Ingram is his wife
Mrs. Delores Ingram, and daughter Mrs. Tamara Key who
served as oath officer.
